Work at

I worked on Bikayi's new initiatives team, where we focused on expanding our target audience by creating products for various online selling scenarios. After transitioning to Bik.ai, we developed integrations for our merchants and built our initial design system.

Leveraging the Existing E-commerce Stack to Reach a New Audience

We aimed to both boost our merchant acquisition and assist this new segment in generating revenue through our tools

We spoke with merchants in the space to understand how they manage their businesses and how they adapt the current platform for their operations

Professionals, home services, salons, clinics, and test labs comprised our largest user base. The first version was designed to meet their specific needs

Several iterations later, we launched, and within the first month, more than 30 merchants were onboarded during beta testing.
Empowering Local Merchants to Expand Beyond India

It started when some of our merchants requested us to change the rupee sign in their product amounts because they were selling outside India

When we spoke to these merchants, we realized that most of their business was conducted outside India. These were businesses producing niche products within India, for which there was demand abroad. For example, local scarves from Lucknow were selling well in Dubai.

We addressed three core issues, solving 80% of the problems:
1) Dynamic storefronts for visitors in different countries (local prices, language, etc)
2) Enabling merchants to go live in specific countries within 2 minutes using the app
3) Integration with international payment gateways for seamless payment flow between consumers and merchants, along with integration with shipping partners. This eliminated the need for our merchants to deal with extensive offline paperwork when exporting products."

Integrations in Bik.ai for D2C Brands Acquisition

After transitioning to create a marketing tool for our merchants, we encountered an issue where our merchants couldn't integrate the platform with the tools they were already using. This resulted in prolonged onboarding times, manual addition of customers and products to the platform, disruptions in workflows, and more

We compiled a list of the most requested apps for integrations and documented all the potential use cases that could be achieved through integration with those apps

"We use Mailchimp for sending order confirmations, promotional mails & Shiprocket for deliveries" - Aadhya Coffee

We established a scalable infrastructure in both the system and the product to seamlessly add new integrations to the library and provide merchants with quick access in the product.
Secret Sauce - Design system at Bik.ai

Because of the rebranding, we were modifying the platform, and we believed this was the ideal moment to establish a scalable system and work on the design system

Worked on the foundations of the design system - typography, icons, colours, grids & spacing

As the product was scaling and we were using workarounds for navigation, we also developed a new navigation system to accommodate potential future use cases

Since the current implementation lacked tokens that could scale according to the requirements, we also established a coherent tokenisation system that bridges the foundations and their utilisation in components

Established a comprehensive design system in Figma, including styles, components, and variables. We later handed it off in stages.
